On Saturday, November 4th, at 11 a.m. our two confrerers, seminarians of the sixth year were ordained deacons by Bishop Jacek Kiciński in the chapel of the Higher Seminary of the Salvatorians in Bagno.
The liturgy was very solemn. After a lecture from the Gospel, Fr. Provincial Piotr Filas introduced the candidates to the bishop and asked him to ordain them deacons. Next, after a homily, they made promisses of celibacy, praying the Divine Office and observing obedience to respective diocesan bishop and higher superior. Afterwards, they laid prostrate and Litany of the Saints was sung by all the faithful gathered in the chapel. Then the bishop put his hands on their heads and recited the consecration prayer. That was the most important moment of the sacrament of ordination. Newly ordained deacons were then dressed into liturgical vestments and received the book of Gospel, as they had become the servants of the God’s Word.
In the end all the invited guests went to celebrate together and express their joy of the newly ordained deacons. Among the visitors there were representatives of the religious authorities, our confrerers from the Society of the Divine Savior and, most importantly, family and friends of the deacons themselves.
Our new deacons are: Mario Lainez from Honduras and Marek Sawicki from Warsaw, Poland.
We wish them the abundance of God’s blessings and the endless enthusiasm for discovering in themselves the charism of serving people to whom they are sent.
